  Wetmore Fire Station

The Wetmore Volunteer Fire Department was created in the early 1950s to protect the northeastern corner of Custer County an area roughly bounded by MacKenzie Junction on the west, South Hardscrabble Road on the south and the county boundaries to the east and north. We also respond to adjacent areas of Fremont and Pueblo counties as needed.

All the firefighters are volunteers, and the department is supported by gifts and grants only. Our fire station at 200 County Road 290 houses one fire engine, one brush truck for wildland fires, and one water tender, plus other equipment.

Monthly business meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month and training meetings are at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday or as needed. New volunteers are always welcome. For more information: wetmorevfd@yahoo.com
